Will you please introduce yourself to the Savvy Mocha Mama Community?
Hey! I’m L. Autumn Colon, editor and digital content creator of She’s A Wreck. I am a NYC wife and mama to two beautiful children.
As a full-time work at home mom, I hope to provide a voice to the realities of motherhood, mental health, and self-care.
I use my voice to inspire moms and all women to pour more into themselves by drawing from my own personal experiences.
How was She’s A Wreck born?
She’s A Wreck was born after thinking about my situation at the time and how I felt I could use my voice in the motherhood space.
I was working 10 hour days, raising my family, struggling with anxiety, and working hard in my marriage. But I was the happiuest I had been in 10 years. I had begun practicing more on loving myself first.
Some days, I was a wreck. Other days, I was a Woman Rediscovering and Embracing Change & Knowledge (W.R.E.C.K.)
There were so many women online asking for parenting tips and I had stories to tell. So, I knew I had to follow my heart and use my passion for writing to share these experiences, tips, hacks, and strategies I had.
What is the single most important lesson you’ve learned since going into business for yourself?
-
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is when you love what you do, it won’t ever feel like work.
Sure, there will be days when you are tired and you need a break. However, I always look forward to Mondays!
What has been the biggest game-changer for your blog?
Pinterest!
What does a typical day in your business look like?
In the mornings, I like to go over my content calendar and my checklist.
I tackle the biggest goal first, whether that be a new blog post, pitching a new brand, or filming a tutorial. I make sure to take on the biggest goal up front so it sets the tone for my day.
My daily tasks usually consist of:
- pitching brands
- making site changes as needed
- posting in blogging support groups
- promoting my blog on social media
- pinning on Pinterest
- drafting new content
Fill in the blank: self-care is_________
Never selfish.
What is the most useful business advice you’ve ever received?
Be clear with your vision and brand.
When you’re not busy taking adorable snaps of your family for Instagram and writing uplifting content on your blog, where can we find you?
